Behold- the second Exciting Fight II Prize pic, done for ~Annie13 and ~Robin47!
I communicated mainly with ~Annie13 on the request, who kept ~Robin47 up-to-date on the progress. At first, Annie knew she wanted a Daisy pic, but didn't know what KIND- pinup, peril, or one of her favorite kinks, transformation. So between the three of us, we hammered this out, which contains elements of all three! For the purposes of the Danger-Prone Princesses series, I've been considering the idea of splitting up power-ups; Peach gets ones from the mainstream NES/SNES games, whereas Daisy gets the power-ups found in the Super Mario Land games. Problem is... well, while there are analogues for just about all the SMB power-ups in the SML games (Fire Flower = Fire Flower, Raccoon Leaf = Bunny Ears, etc.) the same isn't necessarily true of the suits in SMB3- and I don't have to tell you guys how much fun it is to work with those! Since the contest, Annie's been an invaluable sounding board for my different cockamamie concepts, so for this pic, I decided to incorporate one of the designs we've tossed around- a Blooper Suit! I think I just jokingly tossed it out because I liked the idea of Daisy in an awkward, cumbersome squid mascot outfit- I'm sure she wouldn't be too happy about it, at least- but for the purposes of this pic, we turned it into something a whole lot neater, in my opinion. With the Blooper Suit, she trades in her arms and legs for a set of tentacles that allow rapid movement through water, as well as limited flight powers (to keep in line with the Japanese SMB2's use of Air Bloopers). It also gives her a defensive move- the Ink Shot! With it, she can generate a burst of ink that blinds and confuses pursuing enemies for a short amount of time. 'Course, she's gotta know she's being pursued to use it... >:3 Annie's no small fan of the vore, so for the Peril component, she posed the idea of a big ocean beastie closing in on Daisy. At first, we considered Boss Bass, but... well, I already drew that pic last time. However, New Super Mario Bros. gave us another take on the hungry fish enemy- the Cheep-Chomp! Just as I'd decided to put him into the pic, though, Annie floated the idea of Unagi the Eel from SM64/NSMB, and I liked THAT idea so much that I decided to put him in there, too. The result? A literal food chain! *ba-dump-kssh!* Not exactly sure what it is, but I REALLY like the way Daisy came out this time. It's something in her face, I think. Can't figure out what I did that was radically different, but I hope I can do it again next time I draw her. Now, as a third-place finisher, the Annie13/Robin47 team were only entitled to a single-character commission; Cheep-Chomp TECHNICALLY qualifies as a second, and Unagi the Eel, though largely a background element, could be considered a third. We managed to work out a mutually-satisfactory arrangement, however, when Annie sketched out a pic of Daisy and Clawgrip for me >:3. |
