WELL LOOKIE THERE, seems thatQueens of the Race pic I drew for ~Racewing's EXCITING FIGHT prize was deleted for Random Tightass Violation! I'd assume it had been deemed invaluable to (i.e., too good for) DeviantArt, but I suspect it has more to do with the fact that the random tightass in question confused the act of unzipping a dress with the act of manual stimulation. Common mistake.

Either that, or it was deleted for being non-photographic erotica. SORRY ADMINS! I'LL TAKE A PHOTO OF IT NEXT TIME!

Anyway, I honestly don't care- bugged more about the fact that folks now need to click an external link to get context instead of looking a few pics down in my gallery. Small loss, either way!

I was originally gonna post this in Scraps (along with another sketch I did recently) ^^;), but considering how much time I ended up investing in this thing, I decided it was worth nothing less than a full-fledged Deviation post.

In the post for the original pic, I mentioned that I'd designed Daisy's outfit based on my own Mario Kart DS racing emblem and imaginary racing team- TEAM CHOMP. TEAM CHOMP consists of Dry Bones, Daisy, and team co-captains, the Wario Bros., so the outfit had to reflect the design sensibilities of an overweight cheauvanist pig of an evil plumber, and hey-hey, turns out that mindset is remarkably compatible with my own!

'Course, the pity was that Daisy is largely concealed in this pic by some other inferior princess, and obviously a lot of you felt the same way, as I received a FLOOD of requests for a pic of Daisy's outfit.

Now, this dovetailed pretty nicely with something I'd been wanting to try out- drawing a character turnaround! A lot of you are probably more familiar with these things than *I* am, but for those of y'all unfamiliar with these things, they're basically concept sketches done by professional animators to show what a character looks like from different angles. This gives the animation team a model to work from so the character doesn't look different in each frame. I've always been fascinated by these things, and hunting down model sheets and character turnarounds is an INTERNET HOBBY of mine, but I'd never actually attempted to do one MYSELF.

And lemme tell y'all- it's TOUGH. The main body of the sketch posted here was done in a couple hours earlier this week, so it's pretty rough around the edges. I could've easily spent a couple nights working on it, but alas, I have a backlog to work on! In any case, any director who got his hands on it would probably fail it on sight, but I learned a LOT of things just from sketching it- keeping proper character proportions across poses, mainly, but it also gave me some much-needed practice drawing a character from other than a 3/4 frontal view ^^;.

Inked and colored the front view last night to provide a bit of color reference. As for the design itself.... Daisy's boobs STILL get bigger every time I draw them ^^;. Eventually I'll cross the line into the DECIDEDLY GROTESQUE and will need to be stopped by some brave soul, but for the purposes of THIS design, I needed a size that'd work well with the underboob-shirt I had in mind.

Thought of hacking together a shading reference, but decided that it's pretty clear what everything should look like in the original pic. Daisy's outfit is straight-up PVC with leather collar/cuffs, metal chains and sheer bodystocking. Easy, peasy, Sarasa-sleazy.

So there we go! Use it for whatever sinister purpose you might have in mind >:3!

I dig it~ X3 Great job on the turn-around shots, I agree, those things are a PAIN IN THE ASS to do. Especially when you're trying to keep your design consistant. >_<

Very cool.

I think my favorite among turnarounds that I have seen is one of Catwoman from the totally awesome Batman animated series. The old one. Not the OLD old one, the old one that came before the new one. The one in the middle, then, I guess. You know, the GOOD one. Anyway, the thing that made it great was that it included directions on how her character was to be lighted in any and all situations, reguardless of the local light source. It even included visual aids on how NOT to light her. It's difficult to explain exactly why it is awesome in text, but it struck me as terribly amusing. Or maybe that's just my Batman fanboyism rearing it's ugly head.

Oh, and if I may be so bold, I might suggest that perhaps the reason for some of the confusion surrounding Race Queens is that there doesn't actually appear to be a zipper anywhere on Peach's costume :P But that would be kind of a pain in the ass of a detail to have to draw.

I should probably say something about this deviation directly, shouldn't I? Well, I couldn't really come up with anything other than "that's awesome," "those earrings kick ass," and "creative use of chains." So, um... that's awesome, those earrings kick ass, and that is some creative use of chains. *cough*
